2021 Primeurs at Château Giscours, an event at the farm

In April 2022, the Primeurs tasting for Margaux and Haut-Médoc appellations took place at Château Giscours. The event organised by the Union des Grands Crus Classés was held at Ferme Suzanne, Château Giscours’ emblematic reception venue.

From 26 to 28 April 2022, Ferme Suzanne at Château Giscours welcomed numerous visitors from around the world to taste the 2021 vintage.
19 Grands Crus Classés from the Margaux and Haut-Médoc appellations took part in the event and presented the vintages harvested just a few months earlier.

This is an event that wine professionals look forward to each year. Due to the health restrictions, we haven’t been able to host this type of event at Giscours for two years, so we were really delighted to open our doors this year”, Alexander van Beek, Managing Director of Chateau Giscours, explains

Festivities at Ferme Suzanne, authenticity and conviviality

In this quaint and authentic setting, various areas were set up to receive guests.

The Primeurs tasting was held in the farm’s vast main room. More than 2,000 visitors sampled the wines of the 19 participating châteaux. In this 432m² space, wine professionals were free to circulate freely and taste the 19 Grands Crus Classés on offer.

Hospitality is at the heart of Giscours’ values. Sharing and conviviality is second nature. Ferme Suzanne has always been filled with life and the Château Giscours teams were keen to share the soul of this venue with visitors.

In the main hall, a warm atmosphere and a buffet of seasonal local produce awaited participants. The large tables were conducive to discussions and conversation, entertainment came in the form of a jazz concert, and the Fine Wines on offer encouraged the sharing of this common passion for our magnificent terroir.

In the farmyard, Landes ewes, goats and hens also participated in the event, providing an opportunity for Château Giscours to promote its approach to conservation grazing and the protection of biodiversity.
For several years, Giscours has been working alongside the Aquitaine Breeds Conservatory, by introducing endangered animals onto its land.

Decoration through short circuits

There was no need to look far to decorate the venue. The decorations were created from recycled farm materials.
At Giscours, we try to work as much as possible with short circuits. We naturally thought of reusing and giving new life to some used or abandoned items. With the help of talented craftspeople, we used old doors and pieces of wood to make tables and buffet stands. These pieces of furniture are steeped in history and will remain at Ferme Suzanne”, says Marc Verpaalen, Director of Wine Tourism and Events at Château Giscours.
To bring out the beauty of Ferme Suzanne, the buildings were planted with shrubs and white flowers. Seasonal fruit and vegetables also served to decorate various areas.

Display stands were made from noble materials and painted in Ferme Suzanne’s colour, Basque Red, the emblem of Giscours.
