The Giscours winery is where the magic happens, and where a new vintage
with a unique personality is born every year. It is the symbol of our expertise, combining tradition with innovation.

The Skawinski winery, a historic building

An imposing building with shutters in a red reminiscent of Basque homes, the Giscours winery is adjacent to the Château and opposite the Old Stables.

It bears the name of Pierre Skawinski, who was hired by Jean-Pierre Pescatore, the new owner who acquired Giscours in 1847. He completed major work and made considerable improvements to the buildings and the vineyard. Thanks to him, the estate’s wines improved in both quality and style, earning Château Giscours its Third Grand Cru Classé classification in 1855.

A place that develops with the seasons

Split into various spaces, the building has two vat houses devoted to winemaking – one for wines under the Margaux appellation and another for the Haut-Médoc appellation.

It also plays host to wine maturation, as there are more than 1,500 barrels in the vast cellar. We work with some ten different coopers, who supply us with French oak barrels every year.

At the heart of this temple to winemaking, Denis and his team strive every day to create, nurture and enhance our wines. During the harvest, the winery is a hive of activity: sorting is performed, and tractors loaded with grapes are constantly arriving and leaving. Then comes vinification, separation, maturation, and bottling. It is impossible to be bored in the Giscours winery.
